🛠 Rotten Dawn – Weekly Development Plan (March 17 - March 23, 2025)
🔥 Pushing Forward – Building the Foundations for Growth 🔥
This week is all about integration, interactivity, and immersion. From refining the website’s core functions to bringing RottenNet closer to its full potential and laying down the foundation for The First Rot framework, every step moves Rotten Dawn closer to its vision.
⚡ Key Development Goals
🖥 1. Website – Connecting the Ecosystem
The website is evolving into more than just a showcase—it’s a functional hub for Rotten Dawn’s ecosystem. This week’s focus:
🏁 Affiliate Marketing & User Signups – Implementing a system to allow new users to register and track referrals.
🏁Basic API Integration – Establishing the first version of an API that allows RottenNet to communicate with the website.
🏁Dev Log Section – A dedicated area where weekly dev logs will be posted automatically, keeping the community informed on progress.
Why It Matters: The website isn’t just a frontend—it’s the backbone of player interaction outside of the game. This is a key step toward building a player-driven economy and engagement system.
💾 2. RottenNet – The Evolution of the Command Center
RottenNet continues to grow into an interactive command center, not just a game launcher. This week’s focus:
🏁Hacking Terminal Completion – This is a major lore-driven feature that lets players dive into the world’s hidden secrets, interact with data, and uncover key story elements.
🏁User Login & Signups – Implementing account status integration, allowing players to log in and track their status across RottenNet, the website, and the game.
Why It Matters: The Hacking Terminal is one of the ways to add world-building and deeper immersion outside of standard gameplay. Secure user logins will further strengthen the ecosystem's connected infrastructure.
🎮 3. Frameworks – The Birth of “The First Rot”
A massive step forward in gameplay mechanics starts this week with the First Rot framework, which introduces shooting mechanics and more interactive elements. This week’s work:
🏁Initial Development of The First Rot – This will lay the groundwork for:
- Shooting Mechanics Implementation – First iteration of gunplay, focusing on balance, hit detection, and weight/stamina impact.
- Interactive World Elements – Expanding player interactions with the environment.
- API Integration into the Framework – Connecting game data to the API for tracking actions and events.
Why It Matters: The First Rot is the next major framework milestone. It will transform Rotten Dawn’s combat and interactivity, bringing the game closer to its full survival experience. Estimated completion time: 3 weeks.
